WATER

Water your pilea plant weekly but always check the soil first. Let the soil reach about 90-100% dry before watering again. In very warm weather watch the leaves and if they droop, you may need to water more often.

When caring for the Pilea peperomioides, the most common issue is overwatering. You can tell the plant is overwatered when yellowing or brown spots start appearing on the leaves. Adjust your watering schedule with the seasons, watering less in the winter months.

POSITION

Pilea like bright indirect light, like near a windowsill, keep in mind direct sunlight could burn the leaves. They can also thrive in low to medium light after a time of adjustment, but for them to thrive and grow, bright light is recommended.

If the leaves are still drooping after being watered regularly, it could be a sign your plant is not receiving enough light. Your Pilea may need to be placed in different locations depending on the season.

CARE TIPS

Fertilize: Like most plants, the Pilea peperomioides will benefit from fertilizer through the growing period during spring to summer.

Repot: After a year, it is good to check if your Pilea needs repotting, spring or summer is the ideal time to repot. Your plant will need to be repotted if it looks like it is outgrowing its container. Good well-draining soil is recommended - Mix houseplant soil and cactus soil to ensure adequate drainage.

Propagate: As your Pilea peperomioides grows, little baby plants will sprout up from the soil, also known as pups. The pups can be removed from the mother plant and planted in soil, growing a whole new plant. This is why it can also be called the friendship plant! The pups can also grow as water propagations for a unique indoor plant decoration.
