Phalaenopsis Orchid Care

CARE TIPS

Here are some tips from Pearsons Florist - Sydney’s Plant Experts that will help you to keep your Phalaenopsis Orchid Plant fresh, lasting longer and looking it's best.

CONTAINER

Orchids don't like their roots to sit in water. If your plant is in a ceramic container check that there is no water sitting in the container. Feel the moss and bark - if it is damp the plant doesn't need watering. Don't overwater - if your leaves start to turn yellow you are adding too much water.

WATER

Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing potting medium to dry out between watering. Water once per week when they are blooming. Less water is needed in the cooler months. Always check that the soil/moss has dried out before watering the plant each time.

MAINTENANCE

Clean Leaves: Wipe the broad leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and aid photosynthesis.

Encourage Reblooming: To encourage new blooms, remove the old flowering spike by cutting it down to the base.

Fertilize: Feed the orchid with a liquid fertilizer specifically made for orchids. Apply as directed on the container, reducing feeding during cold conditions.

POSITION

Place your orchid in a bright position indoors but not direct sunlight. Avoid placing the orchid near heaters or air conditioning vents, as their dry air can cause buds to drop. Orchids like humidity. You can create humidity by standing the pot on a tray of pebbles filled with water, ensuring the pot doesn't sit directly in the water.

ADMIRE

Phalaenopsis Orchids are stylish and easy to care for with beautiful blooms that add lovely colour, perfect for any home or office.
