Never Never Plant

The Ctenanthe is a genus of flowering plants of the family Marantaceae also called the Never Never Plant. They are evergreen perennials, native to Central and South America. They are grown for their attractive, often variegated foliage. A little care and they will reward you with beautiful colour and style.

Regular watering is essential for these pretty plants, they are native to tropical, humid environments. Depending on the weather and environment you may need to water weekly, less water is needed in the cooler months. Always check that the soil has dried out before watering the plant each time, overwatering is the main cause of problems with this plant. Curly leaves can indicate something is wrong with the watering cycle, either too much or too little. 

Never Never plants require bright indirect light to thrive. Direct sun will burn the leaves, and too little light will not promote new growth. Avoid cold draughts as this take away from the humidity they require to thrive. 

Fertilize:  Feed with indoor plant fertilizer according to directions on the packet during spring.

Prune: Trim off dead or damaged leaves so the plant can refocus its energy to healthy leaves and new growth. Trim back any long, leggy stems to the soil to encourage a bushier look.
