ABOUT

Maidenhair ferns (Adiantum), like many ferns, are ancient species and are widely found growing naturally across many continents - including Australia! They grow naturally on rocks, by water sources and on the moist forest floor. With their delicate, light green fronds, they add a romantic touch to any indoor plant collections.

WATER

Maidenhair ferns thrive on a consistently moist and humid environment in the wild, so it is important to replicate this best as possible. Do not let the plant dry out, check it daily and add a small amount of water as needed. Overwatering will cause rot to the plant's roots, so be mindful the water is being drained out of the plant. Maidenhairs prefer a humid environment so a gentle misting with water is a good idea, especially in warmer weather.

POSITION

Maidenhairs like filtered light but never direct sunlight as you may scorch the leaves. Maidenhair ferns don't like draughts so make sure not to place your plant near an open window or a vent or fan. Once you find the perfect spot for your maidenhair fern it's a good idea to leave it alone. Some people find the bathroom is an ideal place for a maidenhair fern as they enjoy the humidity!
